There are plenty of festivals, celebrations and events happening all year round in Nottingham meaning there is always something going on in Nottingham City Centre or nearby. The summer months are generally when the most popular events take place, often based around medieval and Robin Hood themes. Event highlights include the Nottingham Open tennis tournament in June, the Gay Pride festival in July, and the Riverside Festival in Sherwood Forest each August.

  • Autokarna and Nottingham Evening Post Motor Show - early June
    The Autokarna and Nottingham Evening Post Motor Show is a new premier classic motor show in Nottingham and a great family day out. You will see over 500 vintage and classic cars, as well as entertainment, refreshments and a small fun fair.
  • Nottingham Masters 2012 - early June Nottingham Masters 2012 is an important tennis tournament held annually at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on the University Boulevard. One of England's largest sporting venues of it kind, it is a forerunner to Wimbledon, and traditionally attracts international attention thanks to the involvement of many of the the worl'd best players looking to compete for the men's Wimbledon title. www.nottinghammasters.co.uk

  • Nottingham Mela - mid July
    Nottingham Mela is a weekend of celebrations featuring live music from many international artists and bands, the best in South Asian arts, entertainment, music and international cuisine. Held at the Forest Recreation Ground with free admission.
  • Nottingham Pride - late July
    Nottingham is known as the 'Queen of the Midlands' as a recent survey found it had the seventh largest gay population in the counrty. Nottingham is also home to the annual Nottingham Pride event held in late July. The city's thriving gay community and many visitors celebrate at the Arboretum Park, with many open-air events, such as live music, dancing, food and a beer tent. 2009's gay Pride event attracted over 15,000 party-goers.

  • Robin Hood Festival - August 2012
    Held in Sherwood Forest and attended by large crowds, the annual Robin Hood Festival welcomes you to a colourful celebration of the life and times of the world's most famous outlaw - Robin Hood. Fun for all the family, meet costumed characters from the days of Robin Hood, watch Robin and his outlaws skirmish with the Sheriff's men and browse the stalls and watch medieval craftsmen at work.
  • Caribbean Carnival - mid August
    This major weekend event takes place at the Forest Recreation Ground where the city's Caribbean population celebrate with floats, dancing and colour.
