Wollaton Hall
Wollaton Hall, Nottingham
Wollaton Hall is a beautiful Elizabethan mansion, standing on a small hill in Wollaton in the heart of Nottingham. Wollaton Hall stands within Wollaton Park - five hundred acres of spectacular gardens and parkland, home to the Intercounties Cross Country trials in March of each year, as well as many other events such as rock concerts and festivals.
Wollaton Hall is a prominent Grade One Listed building which was built between 1580 and 1588 for Sir Francis Willoughby. The building is made of Ancaster stone from Lincolnshire and there are obvious French and Dutch influences.
The hall reopened in April 2007 after being closed for refurbishment and visitors of all ages are welcome to visit the hall and park.
In addition to Wollaton Hall, set within the sumptuous grounds, visitors will find Nottingham's Natural History Museum, Nottingham's Industrial Museum and the Yard Gallery.
